Cam Stout | Stout Heart
In 2013, my career as a financial services defense litigator and mediator was derailed by a severe depressive episode. Over the past five years, I have given over 125 presentations in which I candidly share my story of healing and hope, and teach self-care and resilience strategies to audiences around the country including legal professionals, HR and corporate wellness professionals, students, and educators.
In July, 2017, I founded Stout Heart, Inc., a 501c3 non-profit that supports my pro bono presentations. (www.stoutheart.org). I also write about self-care in my blog (www.lightatseaatstoutheart.com).
I am also a contributing columnist for the American Lawyer magazine, a member of the Workplace Suicide Prevention Committee, a frequent guest on podcasts, and a presenter on mental health and impostor syndrome in the legal profession at Thomson Reuters (The Rutter Group), and the Practising Law Institute.
Last year I was retained by the law firm of Sheppard Mullin as a consultant/independent contractor to provide mental wellness mentoring to its legal professionals.
I am also a deacon at Witherspoon Street Presbyterian Church, a historically African American church in Princeton, NJ where I live.
